Six years ago a love blossomed.

Long before Marianne and Mike were looking at top wedding videographers in Toronto and planning the perfect day, they were working at a Toronto Public Library. Were they co-workers? Not really. That would be a little too easy, no?

One fine day, Mike was talking to her friend and his co-worker on the phone when he heard Marianne’s voice in the background saying when he planned on asking her out on a date. Mike was quick to respond that he planned on picking her up on the coming Friday. And while it might have come off as a light-hearted joke, Mike actually showed up at Marianne’s doorstep! And as they say, the rest is history.

While destiny might have always planned on their meeting, mother nature wasn’t always kind to them. After all, it did everything in its power to ruin their dates. What else would you call it considering that every time the two planned dates or a major hangout, a blizzard, a snowstorm, or a hurricane shook the city?
Does this mean that the two gave up on their plans? No! Instead, they continued meeting one another, enjoying each other’s company, and making memories regardless of how difficult the weather made it for them. Marianne and Mike recall the devastating weather conditions at the time they both met on their first date; a blizzard poured down over the city! In fact, even on their wedding day, an ice storm was happening. Love blossomed as they began to date. According to Marianne, she always thought that it was a massive cliché to believe that you would know when you met the right person. However, when she met Mike, she realized how true that cliché actually is! From the first date, they hit it off so well that she knew that he was the one for her.
They fell in love slowly, yet quickly with one another. It might seem antithetical to you, yet this is what love stories are all about. One minute you are attracted to a person and the next minute you can’t imagine your life without them. And between the time, emotions seem to brew steadily.

So, how did they fall in love?

Mike and Marianne fell in love because of how similar they found each other to be. To spend the rest of your life with someone, it is essential that they are on the same footings on the important stuff. That they have the same morals, values, and similar priorities. These are the boxes they ticked for one another. They had a similar understanding of what is right and what is wrong. They agreed on what morality was. And most importantly, the family was an integral part of their lives. According to Marianne, Mike was distinctly different from other guys, and in a good way. She felt that he had something no one else had. Plus, he can cook a mouth-dropping dish of Bolognese!
